UPDATES for STEM Academy Applications 2020-2021

WHERE CAN I FIND THE STEM APPLICATION?

Students  can access the  Student Application in PDF form on the STEM Academy website    or on the STEM Academy APP (text STEM APP to 77977 to download)

  • Each of the forms is FORM FILL, which means that they can be completed using a computer, laptop, Chromebook, phone, iPad, etc.…
  • Once they are completed, they can be Saved and then attached in an email
  • Printing out and scanning a copy to your school counselor
  • SAVE AS a PDF file
  • PRINT to a PDF file and save the document.

**Completed Applications should be emailed to the School Counseling Contact at their Base school

The Teacher Recommendation Form can be accessed in PDF form on the STEM Academy website    or on the STEM Academy APP (text STEM APP to 77977 to download)

The form can be attached in an email for a teacher to complete

WHAT FORMS SHOULD BE INCLUDED FROM THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR?

The School Counselor will need to include the following forms for each student applying to the STEM Academy

  1. Student Application
  2. Three Teacher Recommendation Forms (Math, Science, Other)
  3. Completed School Counselor Form
  4. Student Transcript
    1. If the Transcript is unavailable, the ADVISING QUESTIONNAIRE can be used in place of a transcript
  5. Discipline Record OR Statement about discipline for each student

WHAT ABOUT THE VPT ENGLISH AND MATH TESTS?

During the 2020 COVID-19 emergency, the Chancellor has temporarily approved a modification to VCCS Policy 6.6.3, Dual Enrollment Student Admissions, that adds flexibility to use additional measures for dual enrollment admission and placement. The current policy remains in effect, except that the tables provided in VCCS Policy 6.6.3, as well as the additional table provided below, may be used for dual enrollment student admission and placement for Summer and Fall 2020.

For rising high school juniors and seniors who have not already taken the VPT or who do not have access to other test scores (Compass, Asset, PSAT, SAT, ACT, SOL) as notated above, colleges are encouraged to use the Dual Enrollment COVID-19 Emergency Admission and Placement Procedures, outlined below, for enrolling students in summer and fall 2020 terms.
